A Race
A long distance race she has been running. It started so long ago and when she thought about it for a while, the distance was actually ridiculous.
She ran because it was a natural course.
She ran because everyone was running too.
She ran because she did not want to be left behind.
And here she is almost seeing the finishing line.
So near yet so far, she feels that the distance left is the most challenging.
True enough, she's not running on flat ground but trudging up a hill.
The spectators cheer her on but her vision blurs and strength weakens. She does not want to race anymore.
But she sees a figure at the top of the hill that make her realise it's all worth it.
She pauses for a while to catch her breath.
She races on.
